DIGGING WITHOUT A MAP
Back in 2011, I didn’t have a full plan. No roadmap, no marketing strategy, no idea what I was really getting into. Just a name, DIG DEEP, and this stubborn feeling that I had to create something. Not for hype, not for trends, but because it felt like it needed to exist.
“Digger Man” wasn’t born in a boardroom. It came out of late-night talks, random ideas, and that itch to make something real. I linked up with Bobot from Cebu City, the guy who turned that idea into something you could actually wear. When I first saw the design, it hit differently. It wasn’t trying to impress anyone; it just had its own attitude. A little rough, a little loud, but honest.
That was enough for me.

THE FIRST DROP CHAOS
Releasing your first merch sounds exciting until you’re actually in it. Suddenly, you’re dealing with printing, sizing, costs, and that quiet question in the back of your head, “Will anyone even care?”
I didn’t have a big audience. No strong following. Just a small circle of people who believed in what I was doing.
Printing those first “Digger Man” shirts felt like a gamble. Every piece mattered. It felt like I was putting a part of myself into each one. When I finally saw them in person, stacked and ready, it didn’t feel like just clothing anymore. It felt like proof. Proof that something that started as an idea could actually become real.
Still, I had no clue where it would go.

FROM LOCAL STREETS TO LIVE STAGES
And then things leveled up differently.
The band Chicosci ended up wearing“Digger Man” during one of their live performances. Not just in a casual photo, but on stage, under bright lights, in front of a full crowd. Even if it was just that one performance, seeing it there, in that moment, felt unreal.
Seeing that was different. It wasn’t just about being seen; it was about being part of something alive. The shirt wasn’t just a design anymore; it became part of moments, loud ones, unforgettable ones.
That’s when it really clicked. This wasn’t just mine anymore.

This is the part that still sticks with me.
At some point, the “Digger Man” shirt started moving beyond my circle. No big campaign, no ads, no strategy. Just people wearing it, sharing it, passing it around like it had a life of its own.
Then came a random plot twist.
WHEN THINGS GOT RANDOM

New Found Glory had a gig in Manila, and my friend somehow got access to their meet-and-greet. I gave him a “Digger Man” shirt just in case, no expectations, no instructions.
No big plan, no “make sure you give this to Jordan,” just a quiet hope in the background.
Next thing I knew, there was a photo of Jordan Pundik holding the shirt, just casually posing with it. Not even wearing it, just holding it up like, “yeah, this exists,” and somehow that made it even better.
It wasn’t some industry connection or a carefully planned moment. It was just timing, a bit of luck, and a friend who followed through. One minute the shirt was with me, the next minute it was in the hands of someone I grew up listening to.
I was so happy and felt amazing the moment I saw the photo; it still feels a little ridiculous in the best way possible.
NOT JUST A SHIRT
Looking back now, “Digger Man” wasn’t perfect. If I saw it today, I’d probably notice things I’d want to change or improve. But that’s not really the point.
That design carried something bigger than clean graphics or perfect prints. It marked the start of everything. The risks, the doubts, the unexpected wins that didn’t make sense at the time.
It reminded me that you don’t need to have everything figured out before you start. Sometimes you just need to move, create, and let things unfold.

STILL DIGGING
DIG DEEP didn’t begin with a big launch. It started quietly, with one idea and a lot of uncertainty.
“Digger Man” was that first step. Every release after that, every lesson, every small win, all trace back to that moment in 2011 when I decided to go for it.
No perfect timing. No guarantees.
Just digging.
